BULL, George (1634-1710). Some Important Points of Primitive Christianity Maintained and Defended; in Several Sermons and other Discourses . London: W.B. for Richard Smith 1713. 3 volumes. 8° (218 x 136mm). Pages ruled in red. (Very occasional light spotting.) Contemporary English red morocco elaborately gilt to a cottage roof design with massed pointillé tools, ARMS OF QUEEN ANNE at centre, gilt spine, marbled endpapers, gilt edges. Provenance : A. Marriott (inscription dated 1725); Jean Furstenberg (booklabel). First edition of Bull's collected sermons, published posthumously by his son, as Bull had desired, HANDSOMELY BOUND FOR QUEEN ANNE shortly before her death in 1714. Although the title-page announces that Nelson's life of the author is prefixed to the present edition, it was published separately in 1714. (3)
