To William Davies bookseller, requesting a receipt ( “The Bill against Mrs. D’Arblay” ), and, in a postscript, asking Davies to send some books . Signed “C. Burney”. Greenwich: 1 December 1800. 2 pp., folded sheet (182 x113 mm), black-edged paper. Condition : tears visibly repaired in two places, seal hole, postmark. Provenance : from John Wilson July 1986. To the publishers Longmans, requesting their latest catalogue, parts one and two. Rectory House, Deptford : 24 February 1814. 1 p., folded sheet (112 x 93 mm), with integral address panel. Condition : seal hole. Provenance : from John Wilson 1984. [With:] An address panel fragment, cut round (77 x 112 mm), from charles burney sr. , to Keane Fitzgerald, with part of a letter, cut off; a short autograph letter signed from james burney to an unnamed correspondent, 21 December 1816; and an engraved portrait of “ The Revd. Charles Burney…Drawn by Wivell from a Bust by Nollekins. Engraved by J.Thomson,” with ms. annotation “Rector St. Pauls” .
