Autograph letter signed "F: Burney" to Mary Hamilton.
Norbury Park: begun 11 November 1784, finished 19 November 1784. 4pp., folded sheet (230 x 182 mm). Condition : folds, toning at sheet edges. A cordial letter beginning with a lengthy apology for not writing sooner, and continuing the letter a week following largely occupied with a request from her father: "…Miss Hamilton! these men! -- they are wretched encroachers: I give you warning in Time! -- he desired me to beg you would send him, through me, or in whatever way you please, your notion how the late Mr. Granville, our sween Mrs. Delany's Brother, should be distinguished, -- simply, I believe, meaning the place of his abode by which he was most known: his purpose being to name all the collectors of Handel's works that come within his knowledge…" [With:] Two autograph letters in the third person by Fanny Burney, “Madame D’Arblay.” Chelsea College: September 21 [n.y.]. 1 p., folded sheet (178 x 116mm) and Chelsea College: 18 March 1814. 1p., folded sheet with integral leaf blank (186 x 115mm). Condition: some mild foxing, usual folds, evidence of mounting, minor tears with minimal loss of text.
