Title in red and black, half title and text within red ruled borders, wood-engraved frontispiece, with a LOOSELY INSERTED AUTOGRAPH NOTE SIGNED FROM BURTON on Athenaeum Club paper. Original red cloth over bevelled boards by Smith Bros., upper cover and spine blocked in gilt, lower cover in blind, gilt edges (spine soiled, light soiling to covers, inner hinges split). Provenance : John Quinn (bookplate); Vincent Starrett (bookplate). FIRST EDITION. Casada 26; Penzer p.106.
