Burton," and arabic inscription) to an unidentified correspondent, [London], n.p., 15 October 1885. 4 pages, 16mo, United Service Club stationery. Fine. Mentioning his translation of the Arabian Nights: "Many thanks for your kind note...and invitation to Vevey. We should greatly enjoy it but I can hardly fit it into my time as I intend to pass the winter in Tangier...To my great astonishment the [Arabian] Nights has hit the public taste..." -- BURTON. Autograph letter signed ("R.F. Burton") to "mt dear Colonel," n.p., 7 Feb., 2 pages, 16mo. "Many thanks for two notes...The misprints (as the Academy points out) are...1642 for 1649 and 1689 for 1659. My wife has been hard up for three days with sore throat..." --BURTON, Lady Isabel. Autograph letter signed ("Isabel Burton") Col. Montgomery, Zurich, 26 July 1890. 2 pages, 12mo, fine. Warm letter, mentioning "some spiteful person put a notice in the English papers that Richard was 'dying deserted and alone in a London Lodging.... We had a delightful winter in Africa, Tunis, Algiers...Now we think of Greece and Constantinople..." Together three items.
