This race-converted Flying Squirrel was the first machine acquired for the Gangbridge Collection in the UK, where it was restored. Dating from circa 1934, it has one of the last, long-stroke, fixed cylinder head engines, which has been fitted with later top-end with detachable head. The foot-operated gearchange is another modification. A matching numbers (frame/engine) example, the machine was first UK-registered 'AYW 32', which was changed to 'LVS 638' in December 1976. One of its previous owners was one G T Shoosmith, believed to be Guy Shoosmith, a well-known Bentley-owning member of the Vintage Sports Car Club. There are no registration documents with this Lot.
