(C) RARE & ALL MATCHING DWM ROYAL PORTUGUESE ARMY CONTRACT MODEL 1906 M2 SEMI-AU...

Estimate
US$1,500 - US$2,000
Price realised:
n. a.
Beschreibung:

Manufactured by DWM under contract for Portugal between 1908-1910, only 5,000 of these "M2" Model 1906 Lugers were produced for the Royal Portuguese Army during the brief reign of King Manuel II. After the Portuguese Revolution of 1910, Portugal's military would go on to adopt and purchase more Lugers from Germany, albeit with chamber markings not resembling the former monarchy. This example's serial number of "2866" places it in the middle of DWM's contract with Portugal. Portuguese crown over "M2" stamped over the chamber, with Portuguese military acceptance stamps found on the left side of the receiver, underside of the barrel, and rear of the frame. Extractor is marked "CARREGADA". Matching numbers include the frame, locking bolt, sideplate, trigger, safety lever, grip safety, receiver, breechblock, forward toggle link (marked on the underside), rear toggle link, barrel, and checkered walnut grips. Grips are lightly stamped with the last two digits of the serial number on the interior of the grip panels. Complete with a leather Portuguese holster, stamped "A.E" on the interior, cleaning rod, and pin punch tool. CONDITION: Metal components retain generous amounts of their original blue finish, showing some areas of thinning, showing through to patina, as well as some high edge wear. Strawed components retain traces of their original finish, and exhibit areas of age-related discoloration. Bore is bright with good rifling, but exhibits some light oxidation throughout. Leather holster is excellent, showing few small areas of age-related cracking and exhibiting few minor handling marks. A fine example of a Portuguese M2 Luger, manufactured by DWM during the reign of Portugal's last monarch. -MLW- Name Value Accessories Holster, cleaning rod, pin punch tool Barrel Length 4 - 3/4" Caliber/Bore .30 Luger FFL Status Curio & Relic Manufacturer DWM Model M2 Paperwork Serial Number 2866
