(8 1/16 x 9 3/8 in.), original printed chromoxylographic wrappers, rubbing, some fraying or chipping to backstrips and wrapper edges , John Gilpin backstrip defective, first vol. with sewing loose, minor soiling, two morocco-backed slipcases and folding chemises (worn), a few corners creased, occasional very light foxing . A COMPLETE SET OF FIRST EDITIONS, FIRST PRINTINGS, books 1-8 each with 8 and books 9-16 each with 6 full-page chromoxylographs, line block text illustrations throughout, all but Mrs. Mary Blaize with text and text illustrations printed in sepia, cover and text illustrations by Caldecott, printed by Edmund Evans Muir, Victorian Illustrated Books , pp. 167-69, 177-78; Ray English 250.
