Band 1-2 waren erstmals 1715-17 erschienen, vorliegend wohl in einem etwas späteren Druck (die Kupfer von den Originalplatten), da auf den gestochenen Titeln jeweils der Druckvermerk entfernt wurde (wie auch bei einem von Fowler beschriebenen Exemplar). Band 3 ist 1725 datiert. 1767 und 1771 wurde das Werk mit den Bänden 4-5 von John Woolfe und James Gandon fortgeführt. Die Kupfer jeweils numeriert, teilw. mehrere auf einem Blatt. - Teilw gering fleckig u. gebräunt, vereinzelt etwas stärker gebräunt, teilw. etwas Bildabklatsch bei Faltblättern. Bd. 3 einige kleinere Reparaturen im weißen Rand u. 1 Tafel mit Falzeinriß. Es fehlt (oder in diesem Druck nicht erschienen) das Privileg und Subskribentenverzeichnis in Bd. 1 sowie die Widmung und das Subskribentenverzeichnis in Bd. 3. 5 volumes. Volumes 1-3 being Colen Campbell's work, volumes 1-2 probably in a somewhat later issue but printed from the original plates. The imprints of volume 1-2 are completely erased, volume 3 dated 1725. Volumes 4-5 being the continuation by Woolfe and Gandon. All plates numbered, partly 2 or 4 on one leaf. - Slight spotting and browning, somewhat heavier browning and some offsetting in places. Small marginal repairs in volume 3, marginal tear to one plate in volume 3. Lacking the privilege and list of subscribers (possible not published in this issue) in volume 1 and dedication and list of subscribers in volume 3. Bound in contemporary calf, 19th cent. gilt spines; volumes 1-3 and 4-5 slightly different in size and covers. Some rubbing, extremities worn, joints cracked.
