Mounted on its original, brown, marble base; 21.25" high. Carl Kauba (1865-1922) born in Austria and studied there with Carl Waschmann and Stefan Schwartz In 1895, he traveled throughout the American West sketching and modeling. He then returned to Vienna and between 1895 and 1912 produced bronzes based on his sketches and models. There may have been two Kaubas, a father and son, who worked together. Provenance: Ex Collection Marge and Charles Schott Condition: Needs cleaning, about half of the headdress streamers are lacking, bolt holding rider to horse is broken, but easily fixed.
