Beschreibung:

[CASSINI-KENNEDY FASHIONS] Detailed ledger of the Kennedy White House years with fabric samples kept by Joseph Boccheir, Design Coordinator for Oleg Cassini [New York: 1960-64]. Lined banking ledger with red faux leather covers, the inside front cover marked "Joz. Boccheir" in black marker, the headline of the first leaves reading "Work done for Kennedy" above "shopping & billing for Kay McGowen" to the left, the right side with "My own personal record book/1961/JB" possibly added in pencil later. What follows are 17 numbered leaves all devoted to model sessions for Mrs. Kennedy's designs, the first leaf headed "Mrs. John F. Kennedy", these leaves accomplished in pencil and ballpoint pen with contemporary affixed fabric samples to approximately 20 entries, the text with annotations in red ink noting the designs rejected "before J.B." or noting at what event they were worn (several from State Visits to Paris, Mexico, India, etc). The entries dated 1961-1964, the last visit from before Dallas in 1963 is dated November 13th and provides a sample of an ominous "Pink Costume Dress & Jacket." Later pages in the book are reserved for the business of related figures: in 1960 Mrs. Rose Kennedy has a gown repaired; Princess Lee Radziwill is to "not appear in my workroom record"; Mrs. Sargent Shriver orders a dress; Mrs. Peter Lawford and Mrs. Stephen Smith are listed before Mrs. Ted Kennedy whose clothes were not made to order as "she was concerned about what each cost & what Ted would 'say' about price?" A remarkable daily log of Cassini's workroom as Camelot thrived. C Estate of Oleg Cassini Oyster Bay Cove Residence, New York
