CASTELLENSIS, Adrianus De vera philosophia libri IIII. ex quatuor Ecclesiae doctoribus conscripti [...]. Cologne, M. von Neuss, 8vo: [(of 144)] ff. (lacking prelim. blank atoned, some minor dampstaining and thumbing, a few minor stains, old repair to blank bottom corner C7 [I]). Old half vellum, green tinted covers, spine on 4 raised bands (spine sl. splitting). Very good copy. Rare treatise on religious philosophy by the Italian humanist Cardinal Castellesi (1460-1521). Woodcut mark on title. Prov. A few old annotations. - On front endpaper an inscription in memory of his mother (dated by the Helmstedt theology professor Heinrich Rixner (1634-1692). - "Sum M. Rodolphi Hillebrandi Bremensis" (old ownership entry on title). - Society of Writers to her Majesty’s Signet (armorial bookpl. Edinburgh, library partly sold 1959-and 1979). Ref.
