Edward L. Porter enlisted at Lincoln's first call, April 20, 1861. He was mustered into the 2nd Connecticut Vol. Infy. as a Sergeant. The following year he was promoted to 1st. Lieut., then Captain the next. He was killed less than a month after promotion at Winchester, VA, 6/15/1863. Seth F. Plumb was a resident of Litchfield, CT. He answered Lincoln's second call, enlisting at the beginning of Sept. 1861, also as a Sergeant. He was mustered into the 9th CT Vol. Infy. He veteranized in 1864 and was promoted to first Sergeant then 2nd Lieut. a few months later. He was killed Sept. 29, 1864 at Fort Harrison, VA. Condition: Both with moderate toning and some light foxing. Still very good.
