Lot of 3 cdvs, including: a portrait of William Smith Wallace (1802-1867), the Lincoln Family physician, with no studio imprint. Dr. Wallace attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After several years of practicing in his hometown, Dr. Wallace settled in Springfield, IL in 1837, where he met Mary Todd's sister Frances and married her two years later. Abraham Lincoln's third son was named William Wallace after the docter. In 1861, Dr. Wallace was appointed paymaster of volunteers with a rank of Major by President Lincoln. Dr. Barnes saw active service against the Seminoles and in the Mexican War before being assigned to the Surgeon General's office at the start of the Civil War.
