Paris: Librairie des Bibliophiles 1880. 16mo, 171 x 121 x 42mm. (6 11/16 x 4 3/4 x 1 5/8in.), a Fanfare-style binding, maroon levant morocco, cover with double gilt fillet border around a full panel of strapwork interlaces enclosing panels of gilt-stippled dentelle tooling; rounded spine in six compartments with five raised gilt-dotted bands, gilt lettered in two compartments, a repeated dentelle panel in the rest; board edges and turn-ins with gilt fillet, blue morocco doublures, gilt panelled with dentelle ornaments and large central lozenge, marbled paper fly-leaves, g.e., stamp-signed by the binders on upper turn-in, 1-inch and 1/2-inch crack at top of lower and upper hinge respectively, spine slightly discolored to brown, morocco-edged slipcase. PRINTED ON VELLUM, apart from the edition of 500 copies on Hollande and 50 copies on Chine, text within printed red rule, engraved frontispiece portrait on paper by Delvaux after Rigault, 5 engraved vignettes in text by Boutelié after Lévy, WITH AN EXTRA SUITE, BEFORE LETTERS, ON PAPIER DE CHINE, tipped in after each vignette, 5 woodcut vignettes by Sargent after Giacomelli, ornamental woodcut initials, culs-de-lampe and one full-page floral cul-de-lampe; bount in at end are 8 engravings by Delvaux after Moreau, 3 by Frilley after Desenne and 5 unsigned within ornamental borders (these on Chine laid down on thicker paper), these 16 are all on paper.
