CHARLES BARRY (1795-1860) Autograph letter, signed 'Charles Barry', from Westminster, 19th April 1845, 3pp, 8, to The Rev. Barrett, concerning the employment of Mr Kett on the carving for the new Houses of Parliament, 'from what you say of him I think he will be an acquisition'. He would work at the workshops at Thames Bank near Vauxhall Bridge and 'his wages will be determined according to his skill and talent'. He concludes '[I] am highly flattered by your congratulations upon my present position in the world of art' (mounted on blue paper) together with a note from Sir Stafford Northcote, from Exhibition Building, 14th May 1851, 2pp, 8, to Lord Holland, regarding Class XXX (Sculpture, Models and Plastic Art) in the forthcoming Great Exhibition of 1851.
