A collection of seven sets of original sketches with corresponding prints used for Thompson Products (later TRW) calendars including, A3D-1 sketch with Douglas A3D-1 "Skywarrior" -- Long Range Attack print, OPEL Rocket Plane - 1929 sketch with The First Rocket Plane Flight print, Martin 464 TWA NYC-Kansas City sketch with untitled print, Night Arrival sketch with Boeing 307 Stratoliner - Transcontinental and Western Air, Inc. print, First Solo sketch with First Solo! print, Fairchild Cargo Plane of Military Air Transport Service Leaving Westover AFB sketch with Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas print, and untitled sketch with Life Line from the Sky print; each signed; (largest sketch) 17 x 12.25, (largest print) 16.75 x 13.75 in. Charles Hubbell was one of the most recognized commercial aviation artists of the 20th century. Born in Lakewood, Ohio, he joined the Naval Air Service during World War I and graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1923. He created over 500 paintings during his career,many of which included aircraft that he had piloted. Provenance: Gift of the Artist's Family Condition: Some yellowing to paper and minor tears.
