Autograph letter signed ('Vostre bon frere Charles R') to the Duchess Regent of Savoy [Marie-Jeanne of Savoy-Nemours], London, 20 December 1677, in French, sending, in response to her request, 'Sieur Somes' as his envoy 'pour prendre soin de nos interests commun', and asking her to give him her trust, especially when conveying Charles's esteem and his pleasure in serving the Duke of Savoy's interests, one page, small 4to , autograph address leaf, small red wax seals on remains of silk cords, contemporary docket; in a red cloth slipcase.

Marie-Jeanne of Savoy-Nemours was the widow of Charles Emmanuel II and regent for their son, Victor Amadeus II, until he reached the age of 18 in 1684. 'Sieur Somes' is probably Sir William Soame (c.1645-1686).
