Chateau Lafite 1998 Chateau Lafite 1998 Pauillac, 1er Cru Classe Lot 3007: Original tissues An absolute winner on the nose - more intense breed, focused concentration and glaring First Growth identity than anything else. Magnificent glossy fruit and voluptuous glycerol. Spicy elements, deep black fruit and pure Lafite scent and nobility all through. Ends on the fresh note that all young top Claret should have. A bullseye. My top Left Bank wine of the vintage. At 11 years old, this is still my opinion. Spicy breed all the way through, with a touch of raspberries. Really tempting black fruit too and a lovely juicy finish. SS. Lot Lot 3008 11 bts (owc) per lot: HKD 38000-50000 per lot: USD 5000-7000 Together with Ausone, Lafite's wines age in the most ethereal way, spanning the centuries with ease. Lafite in the 1990s and into this century has benefited from the extraordinary wine-making brilliance of Charles Chevallier who has added extra lustre to this fabulous terroir. When serving Lafite, decant it well in advance of drinking as its bouquet amplifies to multi-faceted dimensions on contact with the air. Lafite has great, sustained power under all the breed and scent - vinous nobility. It has a habit of starting slowly "off the blocks" and then developing gloriously in bottle, as historic tastings have proven. SS. Quantity: 1
