Château Lafite-Rothschild 1990
12 bottles per lot
Château Lafite-Rothschild 1990 Pauillac, 1er cru classé In original wooden case. Original tissues. Levels: eight into neck and four base of neck Tasting note: The scale of the Lafite’s operation can be judged from the number of pickers: 420, starting with the Merlot on 20 September and Cabernet Sauvignon on the 27th; and of the severe selection of vats, only 40% of the crop used for the grand vin (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 74%, Merlot 18.5%, Cabernet Franc 6% and Petit Verdot 1.5%). The result is, in the words of a respected English wine merchant, ‘a spectacular Lafite’. Just two notes so far, both cask samples tasted at the ch\cateau, first in April 2000, the second two months later. A deep, intense, convincing appearance with an almost opaque velvety core; lovely, sweet, fleshy, youthful aroma; some sweetness, undemonstrative with good mouthfeel and silky tannins. An attractive future. Last tasted June 2000 (****) 2015 – 2030. M.B. 12 bottles per lot
