Château Mouton-Rothschild
Above 65 bottles per lot
A STAGGERING VERTICAL OF MOUTON-ROTHSCHILD FROM VINTAGES 1945 to 2007 Château Mouton Rothschild's aim has always been to combine art and wine; every year since the 1945 vintage the label has been designed by a different artist (Artists such as, Georges Braque Andy Warhol Marc Chagall Joan Miro, Vassili Kandinsky). We are proud to offer an exceptional lot which appeals to both wine and Art lovers, an incredible ensemble featuring a staggering vertical of vintages between 1945 and 2007, all in all, 63 vintages, 65 bottles. In fact, two vintages featured in this lot will show two different labels: The 1978, for which the difficulty to make a choice, led the Château to preserve two similar labels from the Canadian painter Jean-Paul-Riopelle (both labels were eventually used, each covering 50 of production). The 1993 vintage also used two different labels, this one was illustrated by Balthus, here, he used one of his typical sketches of a young naked girl with an absent look. Due to the controversy caused by this image in the United States, the Philippine Baroness of Rothschild decided to remove the picture from the label and to create a new more neutral one for the American market. All the wines have been stored in a private and air conditioned cellar and are offered in cartons Château Mouton-Rothschild Pauillac, 1er cru classé --Vintage 1945 Bin-soiled label, slightly torn on the top. Level top shoulder (1) Illustrated by Philippe Jullian (1921-1977) --Vintage 1946 Nicolas stamp on the label. Slightly bin-soiled and slightly stained label.
