The well-formed bottle supported on a splayed oval footrim, with a spreading neck and flat lip; painted in subdued watercolors on one side with a hovering butterfly, a praying mantis and a grasshopper nibbling on large-leafed plants, the upper left dated wuwu (1918), signed Chen Zhongsan preceding a red seal mark, the reverse depicting an array of mountains surrounded by water, fronted with a monkey seated on a pine tree above a stag standing near auspicious lingzhi branches springing from a grassy ground.
