Dean's New Book of Dissolving Views, Dean & Son, [1860], five (of 6) wood-engraved illustrations by Edward Calvert coloured by hand, Earth/Air missing, each with sliding slats operated by a lever producing an alternative view, some soiling, a few short tears (mostly repaired), endpapers with printed publisher's advertisements, original cloth-backed pictorial covers, soiled and marked, some surface losses encroaching partly into text, corners on rear cover repaired, large 8vo, together with A Visit to the Birds & Beasts and What We All Saw There, Dean & Son, [1861], eight pages of wood-engraved illustrations by Edward Calvert coloured by hand, each with movable parts, final scene in good working order, remainder partially working or not working, some with missing parts, endpapers with printed publisher's advertisements, pencil ownership inscriptions on verso of front free endpaper, rear free endpaper missing, original cloth-backed pictorial covers, rubbed and marked, extremities showing, upper joint repaired at tail, large 8vo, plus a French amateur handmade dissolving picture, circa 1860, comprising a pictorial alphabet card representing the letter 'M', with an image of a street-seller and the motto 'Marrons, marrons de Lyon', interchangeing with a verse from the French children's song 'Le bon roi Dagobert' beneath an illustration of the verse's subject, 119 x 74mm Provenance: From the library of Percy H.
