made and sold by John Marshall 11 (of 16) volumes, circa 1800, most with engraved illustrations, some full-page, all original paper-covered boards, with oval printed paper label to upper cover, dusty and rubbed, three volumes with spines deficient (12, 13, 16), four volumes with covers detached (1, 5, 8, 12), approximately 60 x 50mm (2.25 x 2ins), contained in original varnished wooden 'bookcase' box with four compartments, engraved title label on base, and pictorial sliding panel, generally rubbed, and part of pediment missing, pictorial label lifting and with small piece missing, 166 x 92 x 62 mm (6.5 x 3.75 x 2.5ins) Osborne, p.899. Comprising volumes 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 16. Complete boxed sets of the Infant's Library are extremely scarce, and even individual volumes are difficult to find. (1)
