Dilly, Poultry, & W. Darton, Birchin Lane, London, engraved wooden jigsaw puzzle, thirty-two pieces each with medallion portrait of a monarch, from William I to George II, surrounded by relevant dates, famous persons, and notable events of the reign, toned and rubbed (with some minor surface loss), with twelve edge pieces (some broken, and one blank piece supplied), 41 x 59.5cm (16.25 x 23.5ins), framed and glazed Hannas, pp.93-94 (plate 3): 'The earliest dated jigsaw puzzle, apart from maps'.
