Beschreibung:

CHRISTIE, Agatha. CHRISTIE, Agatha. Typeset galley proofs signed ("Agatha Christie") and dated in her hand "May 19, 1957", on the first page of the published script for Witness For The Prosecution. 71 pages, 4 x 7 in., inlaid to 8 x 11 paper which is three-hole punched and bound with two brass brads; index tabs at the top indicate the second and third acts, and along the right margin flag the appearance in the play of the various characters. "WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION" There is editing throughout in red pencil, the extent of which is confined to various deletions, sometimes of whole passages. It seems likely these changes were made by the playwright. The first page is blind embossed with the name Paul Stewart. Witness For The Prosecution was originally produced in 1953, and in 1957, the year Christie assigns to this manuscript, Billy Wilder made it into the memorable film with Charles Laughton Marlene Dietrich and Tyrone Power garnering, in the bargain, 6 Academy Award nominations. Christie, Agatha Christie, Agatha
