Chuck Dressen's 1947 New York Yankees World Championship Ring This 14k gold and diamond ring was presented to Yankees coach Chuck Dressen for his role in the 1947 Yankees World Championship. Embossed "New York Yankees, World Champions", the ring features a .20 carat diamond and is engraved inside "Presented By Baseball, Commissioned To Charles Dressen." Dressen is best known for his three seasons (1951-53) at the helm of the "Boys of Summer" in Brooklyn. However, he was a coach on the New York Giants' 1933 World Series Champions and on the 1941 NL pennant winning Dodgers. In 1946 Yankees President, GM and part owner Larry MacPhail raided the Dodger coaching staff, signing Dressen and Red Corriden as aides under his new manager, Bucky Harris. In one glorious year with the Yanks, Dressen had a front row seat to the rivalry that would pervade baseball for the next 10 years. He would also be, for the only time, on the winning end of the typical ending, with the Yankees winning the World Series over the Dodgers in seven tightly fought games. This series was also notable for being the first to have a black ballplayer, Jackie Robinson. The ring is a size 6 3/4 and is in excellent condition with minor wear from use.
