CHURCHILL, Sir Winston (1874-1965). A George III silver buttershell dish with shell feet, with silver marks Charles Aldridge and Henry Green London, 1774, and inscribed 'From Prof. to Winston November 30th 1950'; with Lady Clementine SPENCER-CHURCHILL (1885-1977), typed letter signed to Mr Patrickson, Hyde Park Gate, 22 July 1965, 1 page, 4to, with envelope . CHURCHILL'S ASHTRAY. In the accompanying letter Lady Churchill explains that Churchill was presented with the ashtray 'by his very close and dear friend Lord Cherwell whom we called 'Prof'. By offering this memento of Churchill, Lady Clementine hopes to thank the recipient for assisting Churchill in his painting. (2)
