CHURCHILL, WINSTON (1874-1965), ANNING, ANNETTE (1876-1938) Note dated July 11th 1904, on 105, Mount Street, W, letterhead, in the hand of Annette Anning, 'With Mr. Winston Churchill's Compliments', together with a ticket to the Members' Gallery to admit a Mr. Gregory Tom on July 12th 1904 and signed 'Winston S Churchill'. Another similar dated 5th July 1905, together with a supplemental ticket for the Member's Gallery, House of Commons for 5TH July 1905 and signed 'Winston S Churchill' and a further accompanying letter thanking Mr. Tom for his kind letter signed 'Annette Anning' and dated 25th July 1905. In common with an envelope addressed to Mr. Gregory Tom, Broad Street, Padstow, Cornwall.These are early correspondences from Churchill's first bachelor flat in London, 105 Mount Street, where he was first elected to parliament in 1900. Annette Anning was the first of 47 personal secretaries who worked for Churchill. She was Lady Randolph Churchill's (Churchill's mother) private secretary before being 'loaned' to Churchill in 1902. She stayed with him until 1909.
