Churchill') to Susan [Thyne, nanny to Churchill's cousin Dudley Marjoribanks], n.p., [December 1888], 'Will you come to our annual Christmas Tree, bringing all your charges, on Thursday 27 88. & Bella. We shall expect you at 4.30 & Hoping to see you soon I remain Yours truly Winston S. Churchill', one page, 8vo , on a bifolium; with a typed letter signed by Churchill to Mrs Dupuy [?Dupuiy], 28 Hyde Park Gate, 8 March 1962, thanking her for showing him the letter, one page, 8vo ; and two related items. Provenance : Sotheby's, 6 June 1978, lot 422. This appears to be the earliest Churchill letter to have sold at auction (ABPC-online) -- even at the age of 14 his signature is already in its adult form of 'Winston S. Churchill'.
