Original maroon cloth, upper boards titled in gilt and gilt-blocked with Marlborough arms, spines lettered and ruled in gilt (front inner hinges of vol I split). PRESENTATION COPY inscribed 'Joseph Rowlands Esq. from Winston S.Churchill. 1 Jan 1906' on front free endpaper of volume I. . FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION SET, INSCRIBED BY CHURCHILL THE DAY BEFORE PUBLICATION. Churchill's Lord Randolph Churchill was published on 2 January 1906 in an edition of 8,000 sets.
