includes a Model 1850 Foot Officer's Sword, 31" blade, brass hilt, and shagreen handle. PLUS, a cdv of Horton in civilian clothes with backmark of E.F. Feiger, Pomeroy, Ohio, PLUS a silver print cabinet card of Horton as an older man, and an early 20th century print of him, PLUS 2 photographs of riverboats he piloted after the war, the Golden Rod (1888-1925), 5" x 7" on period card stock, 7" x 9" and second E.A. Woodruff (1874-1920s), PLUS, his pilot's certificate issued on February 14, 1860 by the District of Wheeling, PLUS seven manuscript and partially printed documents from and to Horton from the Ohio Militia Adjutant General's Office dated 1861-63 all dealing with Horton's transfer and duties in recruiting new soldiers from Ohio for the war effort, PLUS 2 receipts from a Cincinnati Boot and Shoe maker for 2 pair of riding boots, PLUS 2 Civil War pamphlets including Instructions In Guard-Mounting, for Sergeants and Corporals... by H.B. Carrington, 1861, Robert Clark & Co. Cincinnati, 16mo, 16pp, printed paper wraps, and Instructions For Officers on Outpost and Patrol Duty. 1861 War Dept., Simon Cameron, 24pp, 12mo in printed paper wraps, PLUS a few post war documents and newspaper clippings, PLUS three copper civil war tokens, all Indian heads dated 1862 (H. Avermaat Dealer in Butter & Eggs Cincinnati), 1863 (Lew Boman Sets a Lunch at the Brighton House at 10 O'Clock Sunday), and 1864 with reverse having U.S. shield and Union For Ever 1864, PLUS a cased Geo. Wostenholn & Son, Sheffield straight razor, PLUS a Sheffield silver oval snuff box marked Pat. Jan. 24, 1860 C. Parker and engraved on hinged lid Father, 2" x 3", PLUS an unmarked pair of Civil War field binoculars, 6" high, closed, AND a gold filled and wood cane with cased and engraved floral scroll work and 2 escutcheon panels engraved Presented by/Officers Steamer/Charley McDonald/Christmas 1881 and Capt. H.M. Horton/Pomeroy, Ohio on tapered ebony shaft with 1" nickel and steel ferrule, 36" long. Horace was the nephew of U.S. Senator Valentine B. Horton of Ohio. Lot also includes a marked U.S. Revolver Co. nickel plated 5-shot .32 caliber revolver with black thermal plastic grips marked U.S., 6.5" long. PLUS, 24.5" blade, .800 bore diameter, brass handle, wide heavy stud groove, marked SEK on ricasso. Condition: Sword is in relic condition. Most other items somewhat rough, but still G to VG. Scabbard is pitted and has light rust scale forming. The blade has a light coat of oxidation running the entire length of the blade. Brass handle and hilt have been covered with a gold paint.
