[N.P.: After 17 September 1862] Printed handbill (9 3/8 x 6 in.; 238 x 150 mm). Text in two columns; some staining, old folds, pencil notations to verso. The consignor has independently obtained a letter of authenticity from PSA that will accompany the lot. Local field printing on the Battle of Antietam. The Battle of Antietam⁠—or the Battle of Sharpsburg—was fought between Confederate General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, and Union General George B. McClellan's Army of the Potomac. The battle was the deadliest in United States military history up to that point, with a combined total of 22,717 fatalities, wounded, or missing.Condition ReportCondition as described in catalogue entry.
