Lot of 19 CDVs, featuring views of Union generals, including "Maj. Gen. G.B. McClellan & Lady," credited on mount recto to R.W. Addis, 1862, with "Earle's/ Philadelphia" label pasted on mount verso; six commercially printed cartes of Generals Sherman, Sheridan, Fitz John Porter, Siegel, Scott, and Pope; composite view entitled in part, "Five Hundred Photographic Portraits of the Most Celebrated Personages of the Age...," showing personalities from the United States and Europe; and three war-related lithographed/engraved scenes, the first with printed title on verso, "The Antietam Gem," and printed letter from Lincoln, the second titled on mount recto, "All Quiet on the Potomac," and published by Anthony, the third a Civil War naval battle scene showing the Monitor and Merrimack, with penciled note on mount verso. The lot also includes eight CDVs of Civil War officers and enlisted men, all but one identified and/or autographed by the subject. The soldiers include: Charles O. Donham, Co. E, 31st Maine Volunteers, dated June 29, 1865, signed on mount verso, credit to Hornbaker, Alexandria, VA. Captain Micah J. Kelly, 17th New York Infantry, signed on recto and verso, credit to Jordan & Co. Major Philip Filer, "Paymaster Bvt. Lt. Col. USV," as signed on verso, credit to Addis Gallery, Washington, DC. Captain N.B. Bartre (?), possibly signed on verso, credit to Meade Bros., NY (corners rounded, toning, some staining to carte). "Major Savage 25th Regt.," as penciled on mount recto, showing officer in studio setting with sword in his belt, credit to Brady, Washington (heavy toning to print, some spotting, mount corners trimmed). "Adjt. Sprague 17 Regt.," as penciled on mount recto, showing soldier in studio with sword and cap in hand, credit to Chas. K. Bills, NY (horizontal crease in carte, near center, loss to top right corner, some staining, toning). Lieutenant A.J. Keutish (?), 69th Regiment, wearing fur-trimmed coat and posed with sword, signed on verso, credit to Smith & Edy, Brantford, Ont. Unidentified officer, possibly a lieutenant, credit to Charles K. Bill, Brooklyn (toning, scattered spotting/staining to print and mount).
