Ninth plate tintype of a bearded Union soldier, housed in a geometric/scroll Union case with penciled identification on a note under the plate that reads Conrad Stocker. Conrad Stocker was 41 years old and living in Monroe County when he enlisted on July 11, 1861. He mustered into Co. F, 7th Iowa Infantry, on July 24 and was out three years later on July 23, 1864. During his term of service the regiment participated in the battles at Belmont, Fort Henry, Fort Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, Resaca, Kennesaw Mountain, and Atlanta, and lost 141 men due to fighting and 164 to disease. Condition: Tintype and Union case both in very good condition.
