Classical Carved Veneered Rosewood Dining Table, New York, c. 1830, the veneered round top ends in a molded edge which tilts and overhangs the skirt on a ten-facet pedestal terminating in shaped rosewood petals on a platform with rosewood veneered rays ending in a molded edge above the three carved paw feet flanked by carved scrolled returns, ht. 28 1/2, dia. 55 in. Provenance: This table was owned by Gertrude Cornelia Conant who married John Wesley Harway on September 20, 1865. Their homestead on Bell Boulevard, Bayside, New York, was known as The Willows (see photo). Mr. Harway established the dye extracting works at Green Point, New York, and subsequently a similar establishment at Flushing Bay, New York.
