FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, OF THE AUTHOR'S FIRST BOOK, inserted leaf of advertisements at front. BAL 3310; Johnson/ Clemens, p. 3; Zamorano 80, no. 17: "Perhaps no short sketch of Twain's so quickly won wide popularity as did 'The Jumping Frog.' Calaveras County, California, is known to thousands who have never seen the Golden State simply because of this gem of humor." Bookplate of Arthur Swann. A very good copy of the book that catapulted Mark Twain to literary celebrity.
