Cleopatra, Julius Caesar And Others A photograph album containing various working make-up plans, stills and detailed wig orders from Stanley Hall's Wig Creations company, various dates 1936-1960, contents include: two wig order forms, each a detailed carbon copy, one for Sir Laurence Olivier as Julius Caesar in Caesar & Cleopatra at St. James Theatre , March 15th, 1951 including written instructions on obverse, a corresponding profile sketch on verso, a small head sketch of the front view sellotaped to verso and a 'hair' sample, the form -- 12¾x8in. (32.5x20.3cm.) and a black and white publicity still of Olivier in the role -- 8¼x5¼in. (21x13.4cm.) ; the other for Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra for 20th Century [Fox], August 9th, 1960, similarly including written instructions and measurements on obverse and profile sketch on verso, the form -- 13x8in. (33x20.3cm.) , opposite a black and white photograph of the finished wig on a mannequin labelled Wig No 4, Miss Elizabeth Taylor -- 10x8in. (25.4x20.3cm.) ; two additional pen and ink sketches for period wigs, each a profile sketch, one labelled Miss Vivien Leigh , the other Miss Glynis Johns , the latter annotated with various instructions, largest -- 7x5in. (17.8x12.7cm.) ; and six personalised make-up plans, each labelled with actor's name including: Dame Sybil Thorndike, Peggy Ashcroft, Michael Wilding, Anthony Quayle, Sir John Gielgud, Beryl Grey and Coral Browne, each comprising a rough sketched outline of a face marked up with coloured crayons and annotated in blue ballpoint pen in different hands with the various make-up requirements, three plans accompanied by corresponding black and white photographs of the actor, one signed by subject, largest -- 10x7¾in. (25.4x19.7cm.) and related material in an album
