FROM COCKBURN SMITHES Y CA Cockburn, one of the great Port houses was established in the 18th Century and in Oporto were later linked with Martinez Gassiot, founded in 1790. Both were acquired by Harvey's of Bristol in the early 1960's. MB Cockburn--Vintage 1955 Unquestionably my favourite vintage for drinking now. I have been able, through tasting, to follow the progress of Cockburn '55 from its time in cask (1956), through the maturing 1980's, until most recently at Cockburn's 'Memories of a Century' in 2002. One of the best ever Cockburns, in the same league as the famous '27. Good colour; bouquet which opens up fragrantly; lovely flavour, lean touch, flavory yet refined. MB 6 bottles per lot
