COL A collection of nine handmade Christmas cards sent from Norman Hartnell to "Mon Ange" Madame Isabelle [Fowler] for the years 1957-59, 1961-1965 and 1970, all clearly inscribed and signed by the Royal fashion designer. Cards from 1957 to 1965 feature colour velvet boards, whilst 1970 card is made of golden cardboard. All the items are richly decorated on the outside with Christmas motifs worked with pearls, beads, sequins and stars. Some scratches to cover of 1970 card. One drop-shaped pendant is missing from 1963 card. It was Hartnell's habit to use scraps of materials left over in his atelier to make Christmas cards for friends and collegues. A unique and unusual collection.
