COL A large three panel mounted display comprising the following items relating to George Bernard Shaw and a proposed visit to Australia: 1) A telegram from Shaw's secretary to Harold Stewart, 5th February 1934, reading: "Mr Bernard Shaw asks me to say that he is visiting New Zealand only. Australia is reserved for a later occasion." 2) A signed handwritten note in pencil from Shaw himself to Harold Stewart, 14th November 1935, reading: "I regret that Australia is still in the barbarous and benighted condition of being an unknown land to me; but I shall look it up presently if I can find the time, G Bernard Shaw". 3) A black and white image of GBS at the microphone in a recording studio. Mounted, framed and glazed. Overall approx. 16½ x 19½". An excellent collection of items testifying to Bernard Shaw's celebrated wit.
