Collection of documents, in Latin and French, on vellum and paper approximately 115 documents, including (a) small letterbook on vellum containing two letters issued by "Ludovicus Maria Sforcia Anglus Dux Mediolani" and "Neapolis et Jierusalem Rex" (ie. Duke Ludovico Sforza of Milan 'The Moor'; 1452-1508, one of the principal patrons of Leonardo da Vinci and who inherited the crowns of Naples and Jerusalem through the marriage of his half-sister, Hippolyta Maria Sforza, to King Alfonso II of Naples, d. 1495), concerning the nobleman Hector di Ripalta, who had formally worked for "dominus Galeaz Maria Mediolani dux" (Ludovicus' half-brother Galeazza Maria Sforza, who was assassinated in 1476), 8 leaves, complete, 250mm. by 175mm., c. 36 lines in light brown ink in a cursive hand, in good condition, Milan, immediately after 1504; (b) seven French royal documents on vellum including: 2 documents issued by Charles VIII 'the affable' in 1469 and the 1480s, a document and 2 small letterbooks issued by Louis XIV, the 'sun king' all c. 1650, another most probably issued by François I (1498-1567), and a letter issued by Nicole D'Origny, 'conseuler du roy' in 1529; with 12 small vellum Italian letterbooks (each only a gathering or so) from the fifteenth century, 4 other Italian documents of the fourteenth and fifteenth century on vellum, 26 other French documents of the fifteenth and sixteenth century, and 65 other similar documents on paper (some recovered from bindings and hence fragmentary); many stained and somewhat rubbed, but overall in satisfactory condition
