Collection of letters and documents, predominantly addressed to R. David Langerak of Krakow, author of Zichron David. The collection contains: * Two letters by "The Chief Rabbinate of Egypt and its outskirts", with signatures of R. Nissim Ochana and of R. Chaim Nachum. 1936. * Letter by the Alexandria Beit Din, with the signature and handwritten addition of R. David Prato, Rabbi of Alexandria. 1936. * Letter by the Beit Din in Damascus signed by R. Nissim Yitzchak Nedava. Four notebook leaves in the same handwriting are enclosed with the letter. Damascus, 1937. * Letter by the "Chief Rabbinate in Tunis", signed by R. David Katorza. 1938. Open tear to letter. * Autograph letter (on a postcard) signed by R. Meir Klein, dayan and posek in Sátoraljaújhely (Ohel). Tevet 1935. * Handwritten leaf, "Takana Gedola", regulations in Yiddish concerning the prohibition of interest and heter iska, signed by rabbis of the Krakow Beit Din with the stamp of the Beit Din. Krakow, [1920s/1930s]. * Handwritten and signed ruling by R. Moshe Galenrenter, Rabbi of Klyetsk and Dzherzhonyuv. Dzherzhonyuv (Poland), [1940s]. Yiddish. * Postcard with a letter by R. Yechezkel Shraga Margaliot inquiring about the welfare of his family in Krakow. Jerusalem, [1920s/1930s]. The letters addressed to R. David Langerak, all deal with matters related to Torah measures. They were apparently written in response to his application to rabbis of Egypt, Tunis and Damascus to inquire about weight of coins in their respective countries. R. David Langerak of Wieliczka, Rabbi of Krakow. Author of Zichron David (Brooklyn 1992). Perished in the Holocaust. 9 items. Size and condition vary.
