Beschreibung:

Interesting collection of 24 posters, placards, flyers and proclamations of the Etzel (acronym of Irgun Tzva'i Leumi [National Military Organization]), spanning the period from the British Mandate during the 1940s up until 1960. The Etzel (aka the Irgun) was a Zionist paramilitary group that operated in Mandate Palestine between 1931 and 1948. It was an offshoot of the earlier and larger Haganah. Etzel policy was based on Revisionist Zionism founded by Ze'ev Jabotinsky. This varied collection includes placards in Hebrew, English and French, printed flyers with slogans meant to encourage volunteers to join the Etzel ("Being passive is like desertion – join the insurrectionists", "A time of war for our nation – is the time for its sons to volunteer"), two rare Etzel armbands with the Etzel logo, and four wall posters from the 1950s (Commemorating Memorial Day for fallen Lechi soldiers, Commemorating Memorial Days for Etzel heroes, etc.) and more. Varied size and condition. Some items in fair condition (creased and stained), others in very good condition.
