COLOR PLATE] ROWLANDSON, THOMAS and WOODWARD, GEORGE MOUTARD. Horse Accomplishments . [London: R. Ackermann, 1799, imprint taken from the plates as no title page was ever issued]. Late 19th century chestnut morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe for E. P. Dutton, New York, a handsome binding with gilt and blind rolls on the covers, housed in a later case. 10 3/4 x 14 1/8 inches (27 x 36 cm); etched by Rowlandson after Woodward, twelve hand-colored plates as issued. Some weakness to joints of binding, within finger-soil and foxing, but a largely untrimmed copy. This is a very rare Rowlandson desideratum, rarely at auction (the last example we trace is the Whitney copy at Sotheby's, sold $12,000 hammer, 1999). The book was, as noted by Abbey, issued without title. Abbey Life 397; Prideaux 350. C
