COLSTON, Marianne. Plates illustrative of a journal of a tour in France, Switzerland, and Italy, from original drawings taken in France, the Alps, and the Pyrenees. London: G. & W.B.Whittaker, 1823. 2° (545 x 360mm). Letterpress title. 50 lithographic plates by de Villain after Colston. (Some spotting, marginal in the main but affecting the image area of about 10 plates.) Modern morocco-backed boards, original title-label mounted on upper cover (spine slightly faded). This London edition of the atlas volume was printed to accompany Marianne Colston's Journal ; both were first published by Galignani's in Paris in 1822. A number of the plates show the artist in the foreground sketching, a gentleman in attendance with umbrella. Cf. Brunet II, 161 (Paris edition). Not in Abbey or Tooley. edition).
