COMMAND MODULE ROCKET CONTROLS – The SE-8 Engine. Downey, CA: North American Aviation, 1966. SE-8 rocket engine locations blueprint, signed by astronauts. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Buzz ALDRIN, Alan BEAN, Gordon COOPER, Walt CUNNINGHAM, Charles M. DUKE, Jr, Richard GORDON Fred HAISE, Edgar MITCHELL, Wally SCHIRRA, Rusty SCHWEICKART, Tom STAFFORD, and Al WORDEN. A detailed blueprint having a ¼ scale top view of the outer aft compartment showing the Command Module's Reaction Control System (RCS). Eight rocket engines are illustrated with their associated fuel, oxidizer, and helium pressure tanks. The astronaut crew could use these engines to control roll, pitch, and yaw movements after separation from the Service Module and during re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. Other components are the uprighting system (floatation balloons) compressor, RCS control box, potable and waste water tanks. There are thirty-three additional drawings showing cross sections of the aft section near the heat shield. Electrical connections and equipment, fuel/oxidizer lines, and the rocket engines with tanks are shown with identification labels. Blueprint, 30 by 68 inches. Small holes at fold intersections.
