(8vo) 7¾x5¼, red cloth lettered in black, dust jacket. First Edition. Contemporary biography of the Hall of Fame owner of the Chicago White Sox. Comiskey, a player of some repute in the 1880s and 90s, became one of the game's leading magnates and was influential in the formation of the American League. Ironically, this biography was published mere months before the downfall and disgrace of his team when eight players were banned forever from baseball for conspiring to throw the 1919 World Series. Lot Amendments Condition: A few small chips to top edge of jacket; light soiling to endpapers; else very good in a like jacket. Item number: 189342
