COMPOSITE ATLAS -- BERRY, William (1639-1718), Herman MOLL (1654-1732), John SENEX (c. 1678-1740) and others. A composite folio atlas containing a total of 64 maps, 58 (including 31 and 32 bis) numbered in ink and indexed in a contemporary hand. Includes 38 (of a possible 58) maps and 7 leaves of geographical tables from Berry's untitled world atlas, [London: 1680-89], the maps all hand-coloured in outline, most double-page (906 x 590mm); and 6 maps by Moll, also double-page and coloured in outline, some also folding (between 1010 x 626mm. and 705 x 567mm). Index leaf loosely inserted. (Some maps creased and/or frayed at margins, Strahlenberg's map of Tartary and Siberia torn at fold and with loss of entire right hand section, for other details of condition see below.) 18th-century marbled boards (worn).

Berry's impressively large scale maps after Guillaume Sanson are characterised by elaborate cartouches. They include The World , 1680. (Slightly creased and with corner tear.); North America (lightly browned). Burden 532: 'very rare'; the other continents, Russia, and 2 maps of the Ottoman Empire. Moll's contribution consists of the East-Indies and West-Indies . [London: c. 1710-1715]; Dominions of the King on ye Continent of North America ['Beaver map'], London: sold by H. Moll over against Deverux Court in the Strand, 1715. (Slight browning.) Tooley 55a; Limits of ye South Sea Company, [London: c. 1710-1715]; North America, dedicated to John Lord Sommers. London: H.
