Jean-Aubry- [London: First Edition Club, 1926], 12 pamphlets, one of 220 copies, original wrappers, original folder, bookplate; [Six pamphlets from Twenty Letters to Joseph Conrad]. [London]: First Edition Club, 1926, 6 pamphlets, trial setting or experimental proofs; Joseph Conrad on Stephen Crane. Ysleta, Texas: Edwin B. Hill, 1932, one of 31 copies The First Edition Club publication of Twenty Letters to Joseph Conrad comprises 11 pamphlets of letters, printed at the Curwen Press, together with a further pamphlet containing an introductory note by G. Jean-Aubry- He states that ‘most of these letters were addressed to Joseph Conrad before his reputation had gone beyond a restricted circle of readers’. The writers comprise: Arnold Bennett, Stephen Crane (two letters), John Galsworthy, Edward Garnett (four letters), Constance Garnett, George Gissing (two letters), James Gibbons Huneker, Henry James (three letters), Rudyard Kipling, E.V. Lucas (two letters) and H.G. Wells (two letters). This lot includes an additional six pamphlets comprising trial settings or proof printings as follows: i) Arnold Bennett to Joseph Conrad.
